MASANI

Masani (Ma-sah-nee), a native of Vaux Hall, New Jersey, graduate of Columbia College in SC, made her home in Atlanta, GA and has worked in the public media realm for over 18 years. Music has been a constant force in her life and she has been fortunate to have been exposed to jazz culture at an early age. Masani is a published writer and has written music reviews for local publications. She was also the founder and Artistic Director of Itutu, Inc., a small non-profit jazz preservation organization. Her experiences with Itutu entrenched her in Atlanta’s Jazz community and were the impetus for her becoming a true student of jazz history and culture. Masani produced and hosted the long running program, “The Jazz Spot” on Georgia Public Broadcasting Radio from 2001 – 2016 reaching a statewide/regional audience of over 900,000 listeners. She featured and interviewed national, local and regional talent, produced specials and live recording sessions for air on The Jazz Spot. Masani has served as MC at various jazz concerts and events, has served as host of the Swing Central Jazz Competition at the Savannah Music Festival for the 2013 - 2016 and hosted the local stage at the Atlanta Jazz Festival in 2015.

Masani was the remarkable voice for the Latin Soul that used to be at KPVU at Prairie View A&M University. Last show aired in May 2023.
